About Us
Redefining Rehab
We passionately believe in something we call 24/7 Rehab. As therapists we know that 99.9% of the learning and change happens when we are not with our clients.
So we need to be more than Hands on Therapists – we need to be activators who collaborate with our clients to help them set up their 24/7 rehab goals, strategies and activities. To do this we need conventional skills, tools and techniques that help our clients set inspiring goals and targets, activate their self repair mechanisms, learn new ways of thinking and overcome the challenges of their long term illness, brain injury or physical trauma.
We Believe
- Everyone deserves limitless rehabilitation
- It’s not what happens to us that matters, it’s what we do with our experiences that enables our healing
- In every crisis there is a transition
- It’s our role as therapists to enable choice and freedom
- It’s vital we build rehab tools and resources with the people who use them
- Every movement, thought, emotion and breath plays an essential role in the success of our rehabilitation
- We believe in saying yes to projects that are truly important and meaningful to us
- We believe in deep collaboration with our clients so we can develop exactly what’s wanted and needed to make the difference that makes the difference to their practice
Sharon Milroy
I have worked as a facilitator, trainer and coach for over 30 years, with a curiosity to help people unlock their potential and come to terms with the thoughts and unconscious beliefs that are keeping them from what they want.
Caroline Des Rivieres
I have over 35 years experience as a facilitator, coach and trainer.
Horses have been part of my life since I was a tiny child. I’m dyslexic and on the autistic spectrum and during my early life I found it easier to be with animals than I did with people. I learned at an early age what it feels like to be ‘different’ and I know what a struggle it can be to find your way through systems and structures that aren’t designed for your needs.

Our Mission
Making Every Moment Matter
Our mission is to ensure that hands on therapists the world over have the tools and support they need to help their clients/patients set and achieve rehabilitation goals and overcome the physical, emotional and psychological challenges they face during their recovery.

Horses have been part of my life since I was a tiny child. I’m dyslexic and on the autistic spectrum and during my early life I found it easier to be with animals than I did with people. I learned at an early age what it feels like to be ‘different’ and I know what a struggle it can be to find your way through systems and structures that aren’t designed for your needs
My early experiences have not only informed my working practices they have also inspired my thinking around relationships and communication.
Because of my love of horses it was a natural for me to gravitate into the horse world and from 1977 I was training students for their British Horse Society Exams. As the years have passed I have discovered a fascination for relationships people have with themselves and others.
I trained as a Massage Therapist, a Heart Communication Practitioner and an NLP Practitioner and I now work as an integrative therapists combining all the different modalities with body work, breath work and visualisation to help my clients achieve the health and well-being they seek
For the past two years I have been building online communities which foster relationships and support learning, health, well-being and peer-to-peer support.
I have a son with special needs who along with autistic and hyperactivity traits was for many years extremely limited in his speech. He has taught me so much about patience, non verbal communication and paying attention to our intuition and instinct when working with people who have limited verbal skills. I’ve learnt that stillness and curiosity are key to being available.
In Body Activation I am passionate about supporting people to develop beyond their expectations, using my skills as a healer, mentor and coach I love helping people gain deeper insights into their skills and abilities. I love working with community groups and using online and offline resources to bring groups together to thrive and support each other.

As the daughter of a stroke survivor, I know first hand how important it is to integrate emotional and psychological support into the rehab journey. My father struggled terribly with his rehabilitation and his struggle is what inspired me to train as a counsellor and a talking therapist. Sadly my father died before I had completed all my training, but in the time I did have with him, I learnt how to weave coaching conversations into hands on massage and physical activities. As the daughter of a carer, I know how much support family members need to be the best supporter they can be for their loved ones. I also know from personal experience the impact a stroke can have on the mental health and well-being of the survivors children.
I know how much my mum and I would have benefited from being part of the groups we help build for families and care givers.
My contribution to Body Activation is an amalgamation of a lifetimes worth of my personal development and my professional experiences of working with families , individuals, teams, organisations and care giver groups. My personal focus here in Body Activation is to collaborate with therapist and their clients to develop tools and learning experiences that take hands on therapy to the next level

Leanna Luxton
I’m Leanna Luxton a neurological physiotherapist and my passion is supporting stroke survivors move beyond their stroke, reclaim their independence, purpose and joy and find new ways to live fulfilling and enjoyable lives.
I absolutely adore my work. When I meet someone at the start of their journey and witness them make goals and achieve them day after day, that is what excites me. It’s humbling to be a part of a persons goal setting process and profoundly moving to witness my clients relearning how to stand, use their arm, regain their balance, connect to feelings in their limbs, and work hard to regain movements.
I am blessed to have found my true path. I find it awe inspiring accompanying people on their journey of independence. It’s an honour to be with people on their rehabilitation journey as they learn how to interact with the world and reconnect and discover who they are beyond their trauma and pain.
Being the clinical advisor in Body Activation enables me to bring together my love of neurorehabilitation with the joy
of working with other hands on therapists during their personal and professional development journeys. I love helping therapists learn how to combine ‘conversational rehab’ with hands on therapy techniques to support
patients to overcome the blocks and challenges that prevent them engaging fully with their rehabilitation.
Innovations in clinical practice is another passion of mine and working with therapists and clients to develop the Body Activation Rehabilitation Toolkit has been an amazing journey that we cannot wait to share with you so you can utilise it with your clients.
